Does this picture alone not make you want to praise the Lord in your Sunday best?
In the latest ‘Black women winning’ news, the beautiful Academy Award winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o was announced last week as the latest Ambassadress for the French cosmetic house Lancôme. Yep, like I said, winning!!
Lupita is the brand’s first black brand ambassador and I am all the way here for it! The ads featuring Lupita are set to launch in the summer and will no doubt show a whole new audience what this bougie chick already knew – namely that black most certainly IS beau-ti-ful 🙂
The fact that I get the feeling that dear Lupita is annoying flawless even without a lick of make-up on (all that melanin is all she needs) hasn’t stopped me from keenly anticipating the campaign pictures and the ‘looks’ they’ll feature and in which I know, judging from the what we’ve already seen of Lupita, promise to be absolutely stunning.
This Kenyan beauty continues to inspire me as she grows in stature as a beautiful black woman in the public eye and I love that she presents a refreshing alternative to the often monotonous visual message of what is held up as “beautiful” in western media. That her beauty is undeniably of Africa was not lost on the powers that be at Lancôme; Françoise Lehmann, General Manager of Lancôme International said that Lupita was “by the essence the Lancôme woman” describing her as “talented and committed and true to her African beauty”.
African beauty indeed!
And this for a young woman who admitted to a room full of women recently that as a youngster she felt unbeautiful and unrepresented [in the media] because of her dark skin and so used to pray to God to wake up with lighter skin…talk about His blessings far out stripping what you pray for!
Anyway apart from all of this Lupita loveliness Lancôme have now raised their profile with me a self-confessed make-up
slore junkie; the next time I’m out make-up shopping (*checks diary*… tomorrow looks good 😉 ) I’m going to make a point of checking out their cosmetic range to see what they’re working with, hopefully this will give me an excuse to try out some new products #WINNING!
Are there any Lancôme aficionados out there? Are there any products you’d particularly recommend for brown skinned chicks? What do you think about this Lancôme-Lupita pairing?
