The subject of the film already captures my interest as much of what I know about the wives of Dr King and Malcolm X is contextualised as them as wives to these great public figures and civil rights activists; presuming this double biopic is aiming to be factually accurate I’m looking forward to finding out a bit about the women in the context of them as women, as Betty and Coretta.
Its due to be aired on 2nd February in the US so come the 3rd I’ll be looking out for any links posted on-line…*heavy hint* Well as Malcolm said, “By any means necessary” right?
I just took the time to listen to Alicia Keys new song… On point and inspirational should you need it and perhaps fits with the post below.
…If you notice that I’m different, dont be mad, it’s just a brand new kind of me…”
If you were a friend, you’d want to get to know me again.
If you were worth the while, you’d be happy to see me smile.
I’m not expecting sorry, I’m too busy finding myself. I got this, I found me, I found me!”
Wow, I love the bold sentiments of this song and I’m a sucker for good songwriting, it really does create beautiful art.
Sidenote 1: I love that Alicia wasn’t afraid, not only to practice in front of the live audience before she started this song but also to tell them exactly what she did. We should never be afraid to practice before we’re ready to deliver, in life, in love, in work wherever; life isn’t necessarily made up of perfect takes.
Sidenote 2: Emile Sande is amazing…fact.
I know this message comes three days late but HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!! 🙂
I won’t lie I’ve been so caught up in the festive period i.e. Christmas, celebrating the occasion with my family, catching up with friends (and myself), taking a breather from anything work related, that my laptop has hardly passed my fingertips!
Anyhow, I pray that this year will be a great one for whomever may be reading this. May you find peace, happiness and joy this year and beyond (and indeed in this blog ;)).
One of my resolutions this year is to live an even more truer life, to embrace and not shy away from the me that is me, be it good, bad or
ugly not so good because I am after all Me. The simplicity yet huge significance of the statement “I am Me” is one which may well resonate with you straight away or after some thought but I hope it does resonate simply because the truth of it is undeniable for every single one of us. The truth of it also offers a perfect platform to go on this year and beyond to seize and create the life you want, the life which suits and nurtures your TRUEself. If you ask me, this can only be done by starting from a foundation of knowing, accepting, embracing, understanding and celebrating the you that YOU are.
Well, what are you waiting for? Lets go!!! xx
Stay #Bougie :*
P.s. What are your New Years Resolutions if any?
